Bandwidth

A term used to describe the amount of information that can be moved over a certain connection. For example a 14.4 modem has a bandwidth of 14,400 bps, hence its name. This is a pretty "narrow" bandwidth. ISDN connections, which use newer and more advanced phone lines, have a maximum bandwidth of 128,000 bps.
