Fireside Chat with the President

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

I want to thank Saturn/West for the nice treat of "wings" that they provided for our last meeting! What a pleasant surprise!

The year is starting out strong and we want you to help it be even stronger/better. . .

We did receive some more suggestions at the meeting and our Board will consider each and every one of them.

One item that we will try will be a CarClub meeting on a Saturday, once a quarter. We have been asked by some of you to offer choices for those who work or attend school at night. We will have the date for our first Saturday meeting, in our next Newsletter. It will be either March 24th or March 31st. It will be in the morning and currently we are setting the time at 10:00 a.m. Location and final details will be in next month’s Newsletter and will be on our Voice Mail Box, as soon as it is set.

If you have NOT already signed up for the Autoshow, March 10th to 18th, please call Tim Jackson at 759-1100. Many of the times slots are already filled. This is a great time to talk to others about YOUR Saturn experience. PLUS you get free parking and entrance to the Autoshow!

SPS the aftermarket performance company will be attending our February Meeting (as of this time). They now have items for the "L" series. They will answer many questions and talk to us about the pros and cons of modifying your vehicle. Our February meeting will be at Saturn/North at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th.

Our Events Team, chaired by Becky Harrass is looking for a few good helpers. Our events required quite a bit of work and lots of planning. If you would like to assist her, please call her at 470-3517.

I also want to THANK all of you that showed up for January’s meeting. I was very pleased at the number of people who took the time to welcome me as your NEW CarClub President. Your Board hopes that this will be the BEST year that we have and want to make it the most inclusive year ever.

See you February 8th at Saturn/North!

Remember, you are not just IN the Club, you ARE the Club!

National Donor Days

Saturn Corp and Saturn of Columbus are again celebrating "National Donor Day". To meet the needs of all the Saturn owners in Central Ohio, Saturn of Columbus has set three days for this event.

Saturn/North will be the first site on Saturday, February 3rd. The times are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Saturn/Southeast will be next on Friday, February 9th. The times are 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Saturn/West will be the final location on Saturday, February 17th. The times are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Your CarClub will be assisting Saturn of Columbus with this event. The Heart-on-Wheels, is the CarClub logo. What a fitting symbol for this life-saving event. Volunteers are needed for registration and to help serve juice and cookies. If you want to volunteer, please call Becky at 470-3517. The shift will be 3 ˝ hours.

Remember, assisting with CarClub events count toward Active membership status. What an easy way to become Active!

If you can’t volunteer to help, maybe you would consider donating a pint of blood. One pint helps many recipients To sign up for donating, call (614) 251-1451. When donating make sure that you note you are a CarClub member. We will collect the data after each day.

Hope to see you at one of the donating sites!

St Angela Bingo

Our first night of Bingo was a great success. Fifteen minutes before we were ready to begin, 25 residents were seated, very excited, and very eager to get started.

Thirteen CarClub members came to help assist the residents. A few of the residents actually taught one member of the CarClub how to play Bingo!

The donations were greatly appreciated by all of the residents. Thank you all for the contributions. Next month we are again asking you to bring anything small that we might give as prizes; soaps, perfumes, scarves, jewelry, men’s cologne, or anything else that is appropriate.

On the third Thursday of each month, we will continue to help the residents at St Angela Nursing and Rehabilitation Center play bingo. This involves setting up the game, calling the numbers, helping the residents play their cards and providing prizes for the winners.

It requires a minimum of six people but more people will make it easier on everyone by spreading out the work. The next Bingo session will be held on February 15th, so mark you calendars and plan to help out. This is a great activity for those who cannot participate in the Adopt-A-Highway program or other outdoor CarClub activities.

St Angela Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is located at:

5700 Karl Road

(South of Rt. 161 on the East side of Karl Rd)

We hope to see you there at 7:00 PM, February 15th!!
