Fireside Chat with the President

I hope everyone had a Happy and Safe Holiday. It is hard to believe but this is our 6^th year as a CarClub. Many things have happened, but you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Many suggestions have been submitted and we will go over them during the first Executive Board meeting this month. There is still time to submit suggestions by calling our Voice Mail at 470-3517.

At our first CarClub meeting, January 11^th, 2001, we hope to see each and everyone. In order for our CarClub to grow, we need ideas from everyone.

By our first meeting we should have an approved budget and continuation of our other local CarClub benefits. Information will be given to everyone attending the meeting and will also be in February’s Newsletter.

6^th President (Chapter 4 of the Central Ohio Saturn CarClub)

St Angela Bingo

On January 18^th, 2001, the CarClub will begin participating in a new service activity. On the third Thursday of each month, we will be helping the senior citizens at St Angela Nursing and Rehabilitation Center play bingo. This involves setting up the game, calling the numbers, helping the residents play their cards and providing prizes for the winners.

It will require a minimum of six people but more people will make it easier on everyone by spreading out the work. Mark you calendars and plan to help out. This is a great activity for those who cannot participate in the Adopt-A-Highway program.

We will have a continuing need for prizes to be given out each month. If you received some Christmas presents that you are not really fond of, bring them to the next CarClub meeting and donate them as Bingo prizes. The residents of St Angela are always losing socks and so socks are always a welcome prize. Another idea for January is calendars. If you have received more than you need, donate the extras to the CarClub.

National Donor Days

This February, Saturn will again team up with The Red Cross to sponsor National Donor Days at each of the Columbus Saturn Retailers.

Saturn, "a different kind of company", is promoting this as a different kind of "drive" and "Saturn owners give blood, save lives!"

The scheduled times and locations are:

Saturn/North, Saturday, 3 Feb, 10 AM-4 PM

Saturn/Southeast, Friday 9 Feb, Noon-6 PM

Saturn/West, Saturday, 17 Feb, 10 AM-4 PM

Call The Red Cross at 251-1451 to schedule a blood donation appointment.

The CarClub will be assisting the retailers by providing volunteers to assist The Red Cross, thereby allowing Saturn employees to concentrate on selling Saturns.

Your participation, either as a blood donor or as a volunteer, in this very worthwhile program will be very much appreciated and will count as an event toward your active CarClub membership status.

Entertainment 2001 Books

Did not get the gift that you wanted this year? There is still time. We have a few Entertainment 2001 Books left. You still have the whole year to use them. Most coupons are good through December 2001.

The cost is $30.00. The books will be available at any of the Saturn Retailers until the end of January (or we run out). You can also get a book at the January CarClub meeting or by calling our CarClub Hotline.

Remember to place your CarClub membership number on the check if you buy a book at the retailer. This will ensure that you get credit toward active membership status.

Columbus Auto Show

Mark your calendars for the 2001 Columbus Auto Show! The dates for this year’s show are Saturday, March 10^th through Sunday, March 18^th

The CarClub will again be providing volunteers to support the Saturn of Columbus retailers. We will be handing out Saturn bags and literature and answering questions asked by those attending the show.

This is always a lot of fun and the perks that Saturn provides make it even better.

We will begin signing up volunteers at the January CarClub meeting, so plan to be there!
