June typically is a very busy month. For your CarClub, this is also true. Your Events Team is working hard to implement the suggestions that we have received. Get your calendar out and make plans to join us for one or more of the upcoming fun events.
Our June CarClub meeting will be at Saturn/Southeast on Thursday, June 14th. As is usual, the meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. Our suggestion box will be in the meeting room at 6:00 p.m. Take a moment to let us know what you think or what you would like to see us do. Final arrangements will be available concerning our 6th Annual Trip to Spring Hill.
Also this month we will have another Saturday CarClub meeting. This will be the second Saturday meeting that we have had this year. We implemented this for those who are not able to attend our normal monthly Thursday meetings. Hope to see you there. At the end of this year, we will re-evaluate these meetings and will announce our decision in December.
On a serious note, we recently had an incident that caused us a problem with one of our Business Partners. I am asking each of you to make use of our CarClub Officers, if a situation arises. We have spent quite a bit of time arranging for the benefits that we ALL receive. Please do not let a mis-understanding, turn into a huge problem. Call our Hotline at (614) 470-3517
A BIG Thank you to one of our Business Partners, The Saturn National CarClub. They have stepped up to the plate and helped us find a solution to membership related issues. PLEASE, send any renewal or initiation fees directly to us. Do NOT send any funds to the National CarClub. This will cause some delays in local processing and you may not be included in local benefits.
We have many CarClub items for sale. T-shirts, mugs, can holders and sweatshirts are just some of the things we have. Let us know and we will arrange to get the items for you.
Remember that you are not just IN the Club, you ARE the Club!

...From the Membership Chair
Hello again all,
The June 2001 billing has been processed and should be in your hands by now if it pertains to you. Check your newsletter mailing label top line and you will see your expiration date printed between the series of asterisks (***). If you didn’t get your bill and you should have, let me know and I will get you a duplicate.
The bill also will have your total number of meetings and events attended by you (taken from the attendance sheets signed by you at the meetings and events) stated in the fourth paragraph of the billing letter. Remember that you need 4 points during the year to qualify for the 15% discount that is offered for NEXT year. The points start over July 1, and there are plenty of events still to come in June for those that think they may be a bit shy. This is an active club and we want everyone to be able to collect on this valuable perk. Check with me if you think you are close, and I will tell you where you stand. I don’t really have a way to put this on the newsletter header especially those who get this by email, but I am working on it.
The membership cards are changing! The NEW Cards will have the information on them printed by the National CarClub of a member’s local Status. When you receive your NEW card, it should have on it either MEMBER or ACTIVE MEMBER. When you get the points you need to become an active member, you will receive a new card (same expiration date) except it will now say ACTIVE MEMBER.
If you receive a NEW card that does not have either on it, please contact us immediately. If you are not sure of your status or want more information, call us at 470-3517 or e-mail us at saturn@centohiocarclub.com.
We showed the NEW cards at the April meeting and will have them available again at both meetings this month.
We hope this will cut down on any confusion when it comes time to pay the mechanic for services rendered. [SOAPBOX MODE ON] If you have a problem PLEASE CONTACT US! Do NOT confront the cashiers as they are only doing what they have been told to do. Let the CAR CLUB handle any problems. I am sure we can resolve it. [SOAPBOX MODE OFF]
Please keep us up to date on your membership number, address, and other pertinent data that we need. If we can’t contact you, we can’t serve you. Would you believe we don’t have ADDRESSES for some of our members! Some have only an outdated email address, or have moved and mail-forwarding services have run out.
The new membership system has 2 different membership levels: BASIC and BASICPLUS. Basic is what we all have now; nothing changes there except what we have to pay to Saturn. You as members still pay ten dollars. BasicPlus is new and offers you a choice of 3 different gift items (which cost you and us an additional five dollars, bringing your total to fifteen dollars). This year the items will be a CD holder, a Tote bag, or a Neck pillow. I would think the selection of items will change each year, we will have to wait and see. If you are paying your renewal dues and want to opt for the Plus membership, be sure to tell us what you want. There again, this will also be explained in your bill
I guess that’s all I have for now. See you at the June meeting and maybe a few of the events.

Local Benefits
Your Officers and Board members would like to thank each local CarClub member by extending the following benefits:
Every member will receive a 5% discount on Parts, Service and Labor with our Local Business Partner, Saturn of Columbus. All you have to do to receive this benefit is show your Membership Card at time of service or at the parts counter.
Our Active Members will receive an additional 10% discount (15% total) on Parts, Service and Labor with our Local Business Partner, Saturn of Columbus.
Reaching Active Member status is very easy. Just participate in our many CarClub activities. Participation is as simple as attending a monthly meeting, helping at our Monthly Bingo, assisting in one of our Events, traveling with us to our Annual Spring Hill trip or helping the environment during our Adopt-A-Highway cleaning.
These benefits are part of a package the CarClub officers submit to Saturn of Columbus for approval each year. Discussions are held to determine the scope of the package, which includes our FREE oil change coupons, as well as funds for our participation during the Columbus Autoshow and our trip to Spring Hill.
If you have ANY questions concerning our local Benefits, please contact one of our CarClub Officers. We can be reached at (614) 470-3517.
Adopt-A-Highway
The next Adopt-A-Highway cleanup will be on Saturday the 16th of June starting at 9:00 a.m. Our rain date is always Sunday starting at 1:00 p.m. We meet at the GRAND HOST EAST on east Broad Street, just across the Franklin County line. Hope to see many of you there as possible.

Special
Saturday CarClub Meeting June 23rdYou have asked for it and your CarClub has listened. Requests have come in for us to consider another day for our meetings. Some members work evenings or have other conflicts.
Our next special meeting will be on June 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at Saturn/West. This will be our second special meeting this year.
Our normal Thursday meetings will continue as scheduled. You don’t have to attend both the June 14th and the June 23rd meetings. Agenda items will be the same!
Your CarClub continues to try and include ALL into our offerings and events. Let us know what we can do to help you.
Hope to see some
NEW faces at our Saturday meeting!Any questions please call our Hotline at 470-3517.
July Activity
Come and join us on July 7th for a road trip to the Air Force Museum in Dayton. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. at Meijer’s parking lot on Rome Hilliard Road off I-70 West. We will be car pooling for those who would rather not drive, provided we have enough folks who want to drive! Lunch is available to buy or you can bring your own. This is a great family outing so come and join us. For those interested in going, please call Becky at 470-3517.
6
th Annual Trip to Spring HillThe Date has been set, the celebrities are being contacted, the agenda is being reviewed and the special activities are being finalized. What we need now is to hear from YOU, the members!
We have reserved one tour. It will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19th. The Tour is the special CarClub tour, which includes ALL three buildings at the factory. This tour is not normally available to the public. It is one of the things that your CarClub has negotiated with one of our Business Partners; Saturn Corp.
Each CarClub member will receive $50.00; to use as they see fit, for attending this annual event. This has been negotiated with our local Business Partner, Saturn of Columbus and our Executive Board. The funds will be distributed when we return, as participation is how we determine eligibility. Please note that this benefit is only for CarClub members. It can not be extended to those who are not CarClub members.
Currently, these are the things that will occur. Besides our Tour of the Plant, we will also receive some Saturn CarClub goodies. Saturn is keeping the contents of the "goodies" a secret and it will be real interesting to see what gifts they have for us. We will also meet with the folks from the Customer Assistance Center. This will give us a chance to meet the folks who we talk to when we need assistance. A group of Saturn employees will also sit down with us in a Round Table fashion to discuss any item we wish to talk about. You can be part of a forum that helps to shape future Saturn offerings or options.
One BIG item will be our getting up close and personal with Saturn’s NEW SUV, the VUE. We will be able to sit in one and examine it and ask questions about it. Hopefully, we will all decide to order one after this personal view of the VUE.
Our wagon train for Spring Hill will leave the Cracker Barrel restaurant (exit 100 off I-71, the first exit south of I-270) on Monday June 18th at 9:00 a.m. Come at 8:00 a.m. if you want to eat breakfast with us. Details will be available at our June Meeting.
Times for the activities at Spring Hill will also be available at our June meeting. A few celebrities are still making plans to be part of this event. We will know whom by our meeting, on the 14th.
Thanks to Diane (our VP’s better half), we will have gifts for our guests, in Spring Hill (Saturn). I think they will be surprised and these gifts will let everyone know we were there.
To make sure that we have ALL your names, please contact Becky at (614) 470-3517. We must make sure we have all the names so that Saturn can plan accordingly.
Some rules that we must follow:
Hope to make this the best ever trip.
