STEERING COLUMN
I'm stopping at all the GREAT events that are happening so my driving may be slow. Don't pass me; join in all the FUN.
HELLO CAR CLUBBERS!!!
They say February is a short month but there were many car club activities. We had our regular Thursday night meeting, car clinics, donor day, bingo, Saturday meeting, and finally our special meeting at South-East, for the car show information.
By the time we have our regular meeting the car show will be history. I want to thank all the members that participated in this show. I would like to give
DOUBLE THANKS to those that pulled a double shift. I'll put their names in the next newsletter; I would hate to leave anyone out. The car show is a terrific place for us to meet the public, brag about Saturns, and not to mention, giving a plug for OUR club. Thanks to Al Clapsaddle, for bringing a special guest to the February meeting. He has the information about buying personalized car club items mostly in the shirt/jacket items. These can have our club name on them. We can discuss this further at our March meeting and perhaps start a list for ordering and pricing.
Please check the calendar for upcoming events. We have
Auction 34, the end of April and the beginning of May. An all day picnic at Highbanks Metro Park, in the Northern Shelter, on the 6th of April. Our March 14th meeting, is
at Saturn West starting at 7pm. We have had great turnouts at the last two meetings. You get interaction with other members, fun, short business meeting, varied mini-events and ME. What possibly more could one want? Let me or one of the officer's know or submit a suggestion in the Heart of Wheels. We also should start planning our annual pilgrimage to Spring Hill.Lastly, you can contact me thru the hotline at 614-470-3517 or e-mail at
arthur.peterson@eudodramail.com
See you at the next meeting or event

There is a SMALL cost associated with the unique vittles that we will be providing; $1.00 per person.
After lunch the games will begin.

A wrapped gift or $1.00 for Children
We will have two prize tables; one for Adults and one for the kids. Details about the Bingo will be at the March meeting and at the Picnic.

National Donor Day
What a success!!!
The National Donor Day exceeded the
Red Cross' expectations. Their goal was 30 pints of Blood and the day ended with 31 pints of Blood. All the CarClub volunteers were on hand to assist the participants. A HUGE thank you to the 6 CarClub members who donated. This was 20% of the folks who donated. This is another example of how a member can achieve Active Status, by helping others in our community.
We would also like to Thank Saturn/West, for providing Lunch, for the volunteers!
Want to be part of this event
NEXT year? Then mark your calendars now! It occurs each year, around Valentine's Day.
2002 Columbus International Autoshow
The information packages for the workers were distributed on February 25th. If you were not able to attend and still need a package, please call Al Clapsaddle. Also it is VERY important to call if you are unable to work your shift at the AutoShow. If you have ANY questions regarding the Autoshow, please contact Al Clapsaddle at 771-9700.
March Mini-Event
Get out your Gloves, Grab your boots, put on your long sleeve shirt and fasten up your jeans.
This can only mean one thing… Time to start-up the 2002 Adopt-A-Highway Program.
To get things rolling our mini-event will be the Adopt-A-Highway video and sign-up release forms.
So bring your popcorn and your favorite refreshment. Wait until you see the stars! We promise that the projectionist will have back-up copies if the original fails!
Our CarClub Chapter has the longest running Adopt-A-Highway Program, for Saturn CarClubs, in the Country.
Remember, participating in this event (in April) not only counts as two points, it also includes a FREE lunch!
The Champion's Corner
Wow! What a response! The Special Edition VUEs that I wrote about last month are ALL sold. Currently I know of two CarClub Members who were able to take advantage of this great Vehicle.
For this month the SL2, L200 and L300 all have some GREAT interest rates. 0.9 for 3, 4 or 5 years. That's right less than 1 percent.
If you have a Lease that is through GMAC and ends by September, call me for some interesting information. Remember I can meet and work with you at any Saturn Retailer in Columbus. If you already have a Sales Consultant, continue to work with them. To find out more about what we currently have, call your friendly
Sales Consultant or if you don't have one, call me The CarClub Champion/Sales Consultant, Al Clapsaddle at 771-9700.
Membership Card Discounts
I had hoped that we would not have to address this again. BUT one or two folks have made this an issue. In order to receive your CarClub Discount, you
MUST have your Member card with the discount information on it, WHEN you pay your bill for service, parts or merchandise. It is just like money. You can not buy items and tell the seller that your money is on the piano. If you do not have the cash with you, they will ask you to get the money. Likewise you can not get your member benefit without your Member Card.
Maybe you should leave it in the Glove Compartment of your car, if you can not remember to place it in your wallet or purse.
This benefit is possible because
BOTH the CarClub and our Sponsoring Retailer. They Both contribute to its funds. If you do not have a current member card of you think you have the wrong one, call our Hotline (614) 470-3517 and leave a message for our Membership Chair (Phil).
