Position Description:
·
Lead team to identify, develop & implement new products and processes to grow and increase the profitability of the Diamond Innovations’ grinding products and coated abrasives businesses.  Work globally with customers and sales team to identify and understand product and application requirements for cubic boron nitride (CBN) and diamond abrasive product lines and facilitate technology development programs to satisfy customer needs. Lead team to develop innovative solutions to customer and end-user problems.  Process development efforts focus on driving process cost reductions, yield & product quality improvements, capacity increases and EHS improvements. Work with the leadership in other functions to prioritize, focus and manage programs for maximum business impact.  Proactively develop and communicate a vision for grinding products technology.  Activities include: driving development programs for new products and process improvement using “Design For Six Sigma” (DFSS) methods; coordinating technical support to global Commercial teams, Manufacturing operations and Sourcing; developing and coaching team of exempt engineers and non-exempt development technicians; prioritizing and planning projects and tracking milestones; identify, focus and integrate university and government contract research efforts within overall program.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. / M.S. in Engineering or Science with strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and solid conceptual skills

·     Demonstrated team leadership including excellent communication and prioritization skills

·     Customer focused

·     Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and deliver new technologies to the business

·     Solid Six Sigma skills and experience using a DFSS or other “stage-gate” process

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Walking and standing on the shop floor and in chemical environments for extended periods.  PC/desk work including typing/reading.  At least 30% of position involves walking.  Ability to work flexible schedule / extended hours and travel.
