The Old Testament Book of Haggai

Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

Haggai 1:5

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, govenor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest.

* 1 * The message from the Lord by Haggai in the 2nd year of Darius in the first day of the 6th month. The people say it isn't time to build the Lord's house. The Lord asks, is it time for you to dwell in your houses and this house lie waste? The Lord says to consider your ways. You sow much but bring in little. You earn wages to put it into a bag with holes. You looked for much, but it came to little. Because my house lies waste. Therefore the dew from heaven and the fruit of the earth is stopped. Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the Lord.
* 2 * In the 21st day of the seventh month, the word of the Lord came by the prophet Haggai. Ask Zerubbabel and Joshua and the residue of the people who saw this house in its first glory, How does it look now? Yet be strong and work for I am with you. In a little while I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land. I will shake all nations. I will fill this house with glory. The silver and gold is mine saith the Lord of Hosts. The glory of of this later house will be greater than the former. In this place I will give peace.

In the 24th day of the ninth month, the word of the Lord came by the prophet Haggai. Ask the priests, if one bears holy flesh in the skirt of his garment and touches bread, pottage, wine, or oil or any meat shall it be holy? If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these shall it be unclean. So is this people, this nation and every work of their hands, and that which they offer. Consider that before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the Lord that I smote you with blasting, with mildew, and hail in all the labors of your hands yet ye turned not to me. Consider this day - even from the day that the foundation of the Lord's temple was laid -- from this day will I bless you. In the 24th day of the ninth month, the word of the Lord came unto Haggai saying tell Zerubbabel I will shake the heavens and the earth. I will overthrow kingdoms. In that day, Zerubbabel, I will make thee as a signet for I have chosen thee saith the Lord of hosts.
