Mission Statement:

We at Starling Middle School will create a caring environment for all members of our community. In this environment we will nurture the whole child, the emotional, social, personal, and academic aspects of each child. We will promote self discipline, conflict resolution, communications skills, and the value of each participants responsibility in the life-long learning process. Quality work from students, staff, parents,and community will be the foundation through which this mission is achieved.

Vision Statement:

We at Starling Middle School believe that to care for the whole child, a new approach needs to be taken. This includes uses of alternative learning styles, self-directed learning, alternative forms of assessment and more community involvement. We believe that technology can and does play an important part in these goals. We desire to see all personnel, whether they be students, staff or community members to become proficient at utilizing technology in their daily lives. We hope to accomplish as much as possible through the use of technology.

Goals

• 1) Staff at Starling Middle School will be familiar with technology and its multiple uses in the classroom environment.
• 2) Students will create portfolios saved electronically that encompasses information from several sources.
• 3) Students will access the internet for the purpose of information gathering and collaborative learning to help fulfill educational goals.
• 4) Students will become proficient users and rely upon technology to attain academic success.
