School Wide Project:

This is a federally funded title one program. It allows Starling to spread funding over a wider base to deals with the needs of all the students rather than just a few. One way this is being accomplished is through a Student Support Center. Here counseling is available for students, staff and parents. Also Conflict Resolution is taught as a course at Starling. This next year ( 96/97 ) peer mediation will be utilized.

PDS School:

Starling is also a Professional Development School in cooperation with The Ohio State University. This allows for pre-service teachers to have experience in an urban middle school setting. It also allows for interaction between staff at Starling and staff at OSU. The teachers at Starling even help create and teach the methods courses that the pre-service teachers take.

The Future:

With funds coming in from The National Science Foundation for building wiring, Starling is set for the future technology wise. We have computers ready to take advantage of this exciting new technology, and the opportunities it presents for all of us at Starling.
