Friendship Through Lionism
![]()
Today I am reminded of the old saying " The grass is always greener
on the other side of the fence" My suggestion is to cross over to
that other side. Often when we have done a job many times over it is good to
change. There are times when we feel silly just thinking about complaining
about it, however when I think about this great group of women in our club and
how well we support each other I hope our communication skills are at an all
time high. This month our nominating committee will be calling for a new slate
of officers, perhaps they will ask you to do a job you have done before,
however this is your time to CROSSOVER don’t be afraid to speak up and say you
might be interested in another position we would be delighted to hear of your
interests, or if you would like to work with another person, sharing the
responsibility often makes the job a bit more fun. Share it with a friend.
After all friendship and enjoying each other as a group is what makes our club
strong. This year more than any other we need to hear from each and every one
of you, so please help us when we call on you. The year will fly by for you
just as it has for me; and together through Lionism we can make a
difference.
Your
President, Anne Thatcher

DINNER
MEETING
Special
Guest - District Governor Jeff Sweeney
February 10 – 6:30
William Street
Methodist Church
We are pleased to welcome District Governor Jeff Sweeney, as our
special guest speaker. We encourage all
Delaware Community Lions to attend our February meeting and bring guests to
meet our District Governor.

DG Sweeney has a distinguished career as a Lion. His bio from the District Directory:
“Jeffrey S. Sweeney, of Canal
Winchester, Ohio, USA, was elected to serve as Governor of District 13F at the
district’s annual convention, held in Reynoldsburg Ohio, April 2-3, 2004. Governor Sweeney was born November 25th, 1968
in Columbus, Ohio. Governor Sweeney comes from a family of one brother and a
sister. He graduated from Bloom Carroll
High School then graduated with a degree of agricultural Engineering from The
Ohio State University in 1992. He is currently the Design Data Systems
Coordinator at ATS Ohio in Lewis Center.
Governor Sweeney grew up as a lion. His Grandfather, Grandmother and
both parents have been members of lions clubs for as long as he can remember.
His Family has hosted international exchange students from: Japan, Sweden,
Peru, and two from Finland. He went to Finland with Lions Youth Exchange for
six weeks in the summer of 1988.
He was the multiple districts’ first three year Lions All State band member
and has attended eight international conventions. Governor Sweeney joined Tipp City Lions Club (District 13E) in August
1994, and then a year later transferred to the Canal Winchester Lions Club. He
was quickly nominated as the club’s third vice-president and worked his way up
the vice presidential chairs to become the club’s president. The following year
he became the club’s secretary and held that office until this year. While
being his club’s secretary, he held the position of zone chair, until he became
the district’s deputy district governor.
Governor Sweeney has earned three 100% secretary awards, a Council of
Governor's Award of Merit, The International President’s Certificate of
Appreciation and has had perfect attendance since joining the organization.
Governor Sweeney has been married to Lion Loretta since 1993 and has
three children: Nicholas, Kamala and Caden.”
