The District Eye Care fund is teaming up with Kroger to provide eye care for the needy! Send $5 to PDG Jeff Sweeney [checks payable to District Lions 13F, address at the bottom of this page], and you will receive a Kroger Gift Card that is charged with $5. As you put additional money on the card, Kroger will donate money (5%) to the eye care fund! You can use this card just like cash at any Kroger store. You can continue to use your Kroger savings card -that card is used for the discounts; this card is used for paying for your purchases. No need to carry cash -think of this card as a debit card that you can use to make someone's life a little bit better.
Get a card for everyone in your family, encourage your neighbors to participate! Please promote this program to everyone …the cards never expire, as long as you need to eat, there is no risk!
Q: What should I do when my card's balance reaches $0.00?
A: It is important to note that the same card may be used over and over
because most people throw away their cards after the value is
depleted. The eye care fund only receives money when value is added to the cards. It is also important to continually recharge (or add value) to
your card as the balance gets too low. Gift Cards may be recharged
to any amount up to $500. A gift card with a $0.00 balance for
90 days will be voided out of the system. DO NOT let the cashier
throw away your card after it reaches a balance of $0.00...JUST
RECHARGE IT INSTEAD!
Q: How convenient is it to recharge the card? Do I need to go to
Customer Service BEFORE I start their grocery shopping?
A: Kroger has made it very convent to recharge the card. Gift cards
may be recharged up to $500 at the Customer Service Desk and lesser
amounts at the registers, as long as this is done as a separate
transaction BEFORE ringing up any groceries.
Q: What if there is a problem with the card at the store?
A: If there is a problem with the card, during Kroger's regular
business hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, it is
best to call their service department at 1-800-837-4483 directly from
the store. If this happens after their business hours, or you were
not able to call, please call Kroger during their next business day
with the Kroger associate's name, date and time of problem and they
will do their best to work with you and the store to resolve this
situation.
Q: What happens if my card is lost or stolen?
A: If the card is lost or stolen you should contact the fund raiser coordinator
[see bottom of this page] as soon as possible. The fund raiser
coordinator will contact Kroger with the card number. If there is
still any value on the card, Kroger will devalue that card and place
the monies on a new card. Regretfully, if the card has been
illegitimately used, money lost cannot be recovered.
Q: What can be purchased with gift cards?
A: You can purchase anything [including gas] in a Kroger store with the exception of: money
orders, Western Union, lottery tickets, hunting/fishing licenses and
Ticket Master.
Q: How can I find my card's balance?
A: You can find the balance of your card by looking at the bottom of your
latest receipt or by calling 1-866-822-6252 (this number is listed on
the back of your card)
Q: Do I have to be a member of a Lions Club to participate?
A: No, anyone can participate. In fact the more people that do participate
the more money that will be raised for the eye care fund.
Q: Will the gift card ever expire?
A: No, as long as the card has value, the gift card will never expire.
Q: Can the gift card be used any place besides Kroger?
A: Yes, you may also use the card at: Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Smith's, King Soopers, Dillon, Fry's, City Market and Food 4 Less. This listing is also on the front of your card.
Q: Can the gift card be used outside of Ohio?
A: Yes
Q: Can the gift card be used to buy gas?
A: Yes
Q: What if this FAQ did not answer my question?
A: Please call the fund raising coordinator at the bottom of this page.
