The Lions' District 13F Sensory Garden is designed specifically for the physically challenged. By stimulating all of your senses, the unique design enhances the average garden experience.

There's more to the garden than what meets the eye! Flowers and plants are specifically chosen for their fragrances and sometimes even their textures.

Wind chimes and bird feeders add to the sensory experience.

Benches can be found throughout the garden to provide a relaxing environment.

The Lions Sensory Garden was developed as an exhibit at AmeriFora '92 at Franklin Park. Funds covering the cost of establishing the Garden were raised through the sale of rows of bricks and hexagonal payers in the Garden. The Garden was recognized as one of the outstanding exhibits at AmeriFlora.

Following the close of AmeriFora ‘92 in October 1992, trees, shrubs, and other plants paving bricks, hexagonal payers and kiosk were removed and taken to the Ohio State School for the Blind. These and other items were installed at the Ohio State School for the Blind. The Garden is now five times larger than it was at AmeriFlora.

After nearly two years of development, the completed Garden was dedicated on June 4, 1995. This event was attended by many Lions, friends and Dignitaries. The dedication was the culmination of much work by many Lions and other volunteers. The additional cost involved in re-establishing the garden was paid from funds raised through the sale of additional rows of brick and hexagonal payers and a matching grant from the Ohio Lions Foundation.

The Garden is a Lions service project for the community to visit and enjoy. Numerous groups use the Garden as a central point for picnics as well as other social events.

The Lions of central Ohio are proud to provide and maintain this large garden for all to enjoy!

The Sensory Garden provides a legacy for Lions of the past, a place to enjoy nature, and an opportunity to share hard work and dedication of the Lions with others.

I want to help!
