THINGS TO ROAR ABOUT

·         On September 11, the Bexley Lions Club held a Board meeting at the home of Lion Skeeter Dempsey.

·         On September 15, the Bexley Lions Club held its annual OSU Football Game/Pool Party at Lions Bob and Debbie Hulvey’s Resort and Spa!  Twenty-three Lions, family members and guests attended this fantastic party.  Participants swam, rooted on the Buckeyes, drank, ate, and shared fellowship.  Lion Sam Bates twirled his famous Buckeye baton on the front lawn after the game.  The Club would like to extend its sincere appreciation to Lions Bob and Debbie Hulvey for opening their home to the Club, and hosting a terrific party.

PRIDE REPORT   (Check out The Pride Report every month at www.iwaynet.net/~lions13f/)

·         Lion DG Bill Christensen reports that our District has lost 132 members in the last 40 months.  The State has lost 482.  To reverse this situation, the District is planning membership training for club officers and zone chairs.  Lion Bill wants each club to have at least the same number of members, plus one, at the end of the Lion Year.

·         Lion DDG Barry Brandt urges clubs and zone chairs to enlist the help of Past District Governors via their Association.  Invite a PDG to your meetings to discuss club weakness and challenges.  They are full of experiences, knowledge, and ideas.

·         Lion IPDG Eileen Long says the loss of existing members can be more devastating that not getting new ones.  50% of new members leave within three years of joining.  Find out why they depart, and stop the bleeding now.

·         There is a Governor’s Zone Contest this year.  It is based on Governor’s Club Contest points for the clubs in a Zone divided by the total number of Lions in that Zone.  It will be based on Zone membership as of 1-31-08.

LION LICKS

·         No Lion had the nerve to be born in October.
