White Star Quarry

White Star Quarry is located about 1 hour and 45 minutes north of Columbus. Great visibility and warmer waters (you’ll still need a coldwater suit). The park is run by Sandusky County Parks and Recreation dept. There is an underwater structure with a tunnel that you used to be able to swim through, but now the parks department will not allow divers in there (they actually watch the bubbles!)

From Columbus go to Portage Quarry (see above directions) follow route 25 north past Portage Quarry for a couple of miles to Route 6. Take a right on route 6 and head east for about 5 minutes until you come to State Route 300 north. Take a right on State Rt 300 north and travel 2 miles to Quarry entrance. Sandusky County Parks/Rec dept Phone: (419) 334-4495.
