The Lynn Acres furnace bowl, shown below in the upper portion of the photo, is an 9 by 8-foot oval at its rim. The air duct cuts across the bottom of the bowl. The lower portion of this 1992 photo shows a shallow exposure of a work area. This area was fully excavated by the APGS in 1993, and three nested iron shovel blades were found. They were badly rusted. Also, about 30 square nails or pieces of nails were found in the work area, also heavily rusted.
